Biscuit Roti

You will need these ingredients:

Maida (Wheat flour) - 3 cups
Toor Dal - 1 and a half cups
Red Chilli powder - 3 tsps
Asafoetida - 3 pinches
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Salt - to taste
Grated Coconut - 2 tbsps
Water - enough to knead the dough
Oil - For deep Frying

Method:

1. Soak toor dal in Water for an hour
2. Grind the toor dal coarsely with the chilli powder, asafoetida and salt.
3. Heat a little oil and crackle the mustard.
4. Add the curry leaves and fry it till crisp.
5. Add the toor dal mixture and saute on a low flame.
6. Remove the mixture from the flame, add in the coconut and mix well.
7. Knead the maida with the water and salt to make a soft dough. Set the dough aside for about 1/2 hour.
8. Divide the dough into small ball-sized portions and roll between your hands till they are smooth and without cracks.
9. Very lightly flour a rolling board or clean counter surface and roll each ball into a small circle.
10. Put a small portion of the toor dal mixture on the center of the circle and cover the mixture fully with the maida dough.
11. Roll the stuffed balls into small pooris.
12. Deep fry the pooris in hot oil until done.
13. Serve hot with tea.
